Diversified Heat Transfer introduces the STP Series fully packaged storage water heater that utilizes a compact double wall brazed plate heat exchanger that optimizes heat transfer by generating more efficient hot water replenishment of the storage tank, the company notes. Ideal for a variety of new and retrofit water-to-water heating applications that require little to large storage volume capacities, the STP Series brings operational and cost benefits to apartment complexes, correctional facilities, hospital and other healthcare centers, hospitality settings, and colleges and universities, it adds.

The ASME-certified STP Series water heater is built with a heat exchanger made from 316L stainless steel plates that are AHRI 400 Rated. The units have a standard carbon steel tank with double glass lining, with a duplex stainless steel model also available.

DHT has developed the STP Series with a modular design that allows multiple simplex and duplex heat exchangers to be stacked for efficient built-in redundancy and extra capacity in a small footprint, the company says. Maintenance is also improved through the design, it explains, as it allows each heat exchanger to be isolated for cleaning and servicing to eliminate system downtime.

Recovery rates of the STP Series range from 600 GPH to 10,800 GPH with 180° F boiler water for 100° temperature rise. Domestic storage temperature has a control range of 50°-180° using a VFD pump or 2- or 3-way control valve on the boiler water side. Standard tank sizes are from 175-500 gallons, with 750-1000 gallon units available via special order.

Installation is simple in both retrofit environments and new facility designs, DHT says. The STP Series has a compact footprint and comes fully assembled in a skid-mounted package for quick and easy single point connections. For those with limited space conditions the piping and wiring connections can be easily removed and assembled so you can easily move the unit components inside the building, the company notes.

DHT designed advanced electronic PID controls for the STP Series. It features a 4.3-inch TFT color touchscreen user interface and is compatible with a Building Management System via ModBus or built-in BacNet IP. The DHT state-of-the-art control system offers unmatched performance and full user configurability for water heater applications.

The PID controller supports the overall performance of the STP Series to achieve accurate temperature control over various demand situations. A millivolt signal is transmitted from a durable temperature sensor directly into the advanced PID controller, which in turn sends a signal to the electrically activated fully modulating and fast acting three-way control valve with high turndown.
