The Monitoring Association (TMA) announced the onboarding of its 53rd PSAP in the United States: Charlotte County, Fla. Launched in 2011 as a public-private partnership, TMA’s ASAP-to-PSAP service is designed to increase the accuracy and efficiency of calls for service from alarm companies to PSAPs.
Charlotte County is the sixth PSAP in the state of Florida to implement the ASAP program. It went live on Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16 with Vector Security, followed by Rapid Response Monitoring, Brinks Home Security, National Monitoring Center, Security Central, Vivint, Protection One, AT&T Digital Life, Guardian Protection Services, Affiliated Monitoring and Tyco (Johnson Controls).
“We are rewarded to see how rapidly jurisdictions across the United States are embracing the life-saving benefits of TMA’s ASAP-to-PSAP program,” said TMA President Ivan Spector. “Interest in the program has increased significantly in 2019, as the network of PSAPs grows and law enforcement agencies recognize the distinct value of the program to their staff and their communities.”
"We are excited to implement the ASAP to PSAP interface between The Monitoring Association and our computer aided dispatch system," said Melanie Bailey, Charlotte County sheriff's office public safety communications manager. "This new process will benefit both the community and agency by reducing the time it takes to process an alarm."
